Welcome aboard the Becky by Karbo Welcome aboard the Becky by Karbo
It's one day late but here is a picture I made for the speak like a pirate day :D
I was first thinking about making regular mermaids with pirate accessories but then I pushed the concept a little further XP
The idea come partly by the fact, in English, the ships are called "she". That always intrigued me ^^
Her name is Becky, ain't she cute ? :3

The overall piece shows a large amount of skill in this drawing style. The detail on the ships and people is fantastic and very well thought out. The idea of the piece is an interesting twist on the modern concept of pirate ships. Many ships in old days would have carvings of maidens and spirits on the front in order to ward off bad luck, yet this piece takes that concept to a whole new level. The shadowing on the characters looks pretty good, but also a little bit unfinished. There is an odd splotch on Becky's breast, that I think could be toned down a little bit. Also, there is very little shading on the normal ship, when compared to Becky and her crew. Other than that though, it looks fantastic overall, and very well done.

OK so looking at it i see you could take more time and add more detailed line work if you are aiming towards it, but the one I see now is lovely too, As for the colors you could may be mix some gradients for example add more variations of the colors you have now in side the areas they reside within now. and as a finishing touch me personally I would add a color adjustment layer in photoshop above all other work layers and make the image pop out abit more :)
OH also I would love to see more of the right side, composition wise the image weights more toward the right so give it more space there so it becomes balanced everywhere:)
hope this helps

Taking the mermaid on ships a little too far. The ship is now a giant mermaid.

After reading up a bit on the Felarya wiki, I can't help but imagine a ferry between continents built with a Leviathan Mermaid.

I certainly think that this song defines Becky as the true pirate that she is www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fc9nTc… but I also gotta tell that what do like the most of this picture is the sky, I'm certain that gives the sensation being in the middle of the ocean
