It's one day late but here is a picture I made for the speak like a pirate day I was first thinking about making regular mermaids with pirate accessories but then I pushed the concept a little further XP The idea come partly by the fact, in English, the ships are called "she". That always intrigued me ^^ Her name is Becky, ain't she cute ? :3
I find it hard to criticize almost any of your work but, as you have asked for feedback there are a few items:
Becky is riding way too high in the water especially as she seems to be supporting part of the victims ship. Way too top heavy and the bit of tail (heh) seems oddly placed making her aft parts out of proportion.
Victims ship has no cannon run out in her firing ports! If I had the Becky overtaking me I'd darn sure have the gun crew haulin' ass.
While there is a cannon missing from the firing port to the left of Becky's head, I would not think that the aft deck cannon would be run out at all. Even if that talking tube in her ear serves as an ear plug, the sound of cannon going off that close would not be pleasant.
Also Becky would suffer massive powder burns if those aft cannon were touched off.
Although the concept is unique and has all kinds of story potential, I'd recommend a complete redesign of the the ship 'strap-on' (hehehehe). Seriously, with the way Becky would ride in the water the ship would almost have to be submersible (although not to any great depth or length of time) plus this would give them an underwater stealth capability. This leads to all kinds of story threads for action scenes. Ah My brain is buzzing, more later.
I find your work a real masterpiece as all yours. A very original idea; life for normal pirates is hard I guess... The way you show a predator with a so innocent face is amazing; I remind you made a work about one piece; maybe it would be a good idea make a picture with this character and that theme, because of I find this image very good and I think you would have to continue on this purpuse. I end admitting I' m making you compliments but I always found your drawings absolutely wonderful and when I see members making tales and thinking about these images I really enjoy the reading. In practice, seen I draw myself, I find good feelings from your pictures and I hope you continue and do always better.
Pirates of the Caribbean (2) would've had a very different ending if they had this instead of the Kraken... Lets see, Jack hits on Becky, Becky hits on will, Elizabeth gets jealous and shoots Becky in the face with a cannon and Jack has a jar of dirt.
Hey! I still love this pic! But i noticed Becky has a barrel? Cork? something wooden in her ear! I was curious what that is? Is she trying to protect her ears from the blasts of the cannon next to her head?
