Pfouu I am finished with this one at least ^^
This was supposed to be a speed painting at first, then it turned into.. something else. Certainly not a speed painting anymore , I believe I never spent so much time in a single picture before =p
I am really happy on how this one turned in the end. I think I have learnt something new about coloring there :)

Anyway here are the ruins of Ur-Sagol ( [link] ) and the lovely Jissy, one of :iconfrenchsnack:'s character, playing hide and seek, Felaryan style X3

For those who were wondering, yes there is clearly a Shadow of the Colossus influence there ( hence the name :p ). Not only it's one of the best game I ever played, but I was listening to the OST while drawing it XD

Jissy belongs to *FrenchSnack

Thank to everyone who gave suggestions and remarks in the WIP version, it was very helpful ! ^__^

EDIT : reworked a bit the picture

To get the obvious out of the way" The background is absolutely phenomenal. The detail in the carvings, especially in such strong perspective - especially in complicated, semi-dilapidated, multi-layered perspective - is really amazing. You have too much patience. I love the way you employed the atmospheric affect in the trees and background tower, and how you tied it in with the overexposure of the architecture behind her head.

There seems to be something of a new style in the way you drew Jissy - while maintaining a cartoonish style, she seems much more 3-dimensional somehow. I really like the way her color draws your eye so quickly, so the person in hiding actually -does- hide from the viewer - at least for a second.

The only non-positive thing I could say about this picture is the little bit of shrubbery that sticks out near her breast. Since it doesn't have a dark line along the edge (and possibly because of the thick stalk), it seems a little unusual, like it doesn't fit in the background. I'd liken it to the old animation styles where a background is painted, and you can always pick out the bushes or grass that the character will interact with, since they seem to be painted by a different artist than the background and have slightly different colors.

A tremendous picture, all in all!

Karbo, you have an amazing ability to outdo yourself at every turn! When I first offered critiques of your work, I would wonder "I really don't know how you could improve on what already some insanely great artwork."

Well, you blew me away with this. The intricate detail on the background ALONE is enough to knock the viewer's socks off, but the shadows is what puts it over the top. The way the shadows are cast on the giantess' body makes her just come alive. Even some of the minor details are eye-catching enough to make the audience stand back and say wow, like those birds flying on the right side of the image and the little shrubs near her right breast. The birds in particular are great at showing just the shear scale of both the giantess and the ruins themselves.

Awesome, awesome image, as always! I can only wonder how you'll knock my socks off next. :D

I still like this picture the most. Maybe it's because of the sort of lost civilization feel, like the lore of the environment the giant is moving about in is actually something compelling enough to explore and doesn't feel like a bland, meaningless addition. I don't know... All I can say is that the scene definitely grabs me, and adds to the picture. Paintings that have an "epic" feel to it to go along with the large lady are just that much more effective, and at the same time rarely ever done.

Good job! :)
